Be a Watchdog: Submit Your Questions on the Docket

Stronger Oversight Needed by the City Council

In a Strong Mayor-Strong Council form of government, the City Council has an obligation to provide sustained oversight of the executive branch.

That's why Councilmember Carl DeMaio is committed to providing the maximum level of oversight of each city department.

But Carl needs YOUR help to ask the right questions and hold city departments accountable.

Submit Your Questions on the Docket

Under the state's open government meeting laws, the City Council must permit "public comment" on every item that comes before its body before taking action.

Unfortunately, while the public is alowed to comment, they are not guaranteed an answer to questions they may raise about a proposal.  In fact in many instances questions asked by public speakers are completely ignored.

Under the City's Charter, every city official shall answer a question if posed by a Council member.  Carl is asking for YOUR HELP in framing questions on policy proposals pending before city council.

So review the upcoming Docket for the City Council and submit your questions!
